Ryan Rapz

Lian Hermawan, professionally known as Ryan Rapz, is an Indonesian rapper from Cibinong, Bogor, whose journey in hip-hop began with a genuine passion for rap music. Inspired by Bondan Prakoso & Fade 2 Black (Bondan F2B), Ryan discovered the genre during his first year of junior high school. As his interest grew, he became a dedicated listener of influential Indonesian hip-hop artists such as Kungpow Chicken, Ebit Beat A, and Saykoji, whose music motivated him to pursue his own artistic path.

In 2009, Ryan Rapz decided to take his passion seriously and began writing his first rap lyrics. This led to the creation of his debut single, "Cinta Derita." The instrumental for the song was generously provided by a friend from Gorontalo, while the vocals were recorded using nothing more than an MP4 player. Despite having limited equipment, Ryan's determination to create music demonstrated the perseverance that would define his career.

As he continued developing as an artist, Ryan connected with fellow rappers in Jakarta, eventually becoming part of the JakCity Hip Hop Community. Through this community, he met like-minded artists who shared knowledge, experience, and a common vision for growing Indonesia's hip-hop culture. These relationships played an important role in shaping his musical identity and strengthening his commitment to promoting hip-hop throughout the country.

Driven by that same vision, Ryan later founded his own community, Cibinong Hip Hop Clan (CHC), while also remaining active in Depok Hip Hop Clan (DHHC) and Jakarta Hip Hop Bersatu (JHHC). Through these communities, he continues to support local artists, organize creative collaborations, and contribute to the development of Indonesia's independent hip-hop movement.

Beyond performing, Ryan Rapz consistently writes and releases new music, both as a solo artist and through collaborations with fellow musicians. He also established his own independent production house, Rumah Kedua Production, which operates alongside the DHHC community and serves as a creative platform for independent hip-hop artists.

For Ryan Rapz, hip-hop is more than entertainment—it is a form of honest storytelling. He believes rap is like reading the diary of everyday life, where every lyric reflects real emotions, experiences, and perspectives without pretense. This philosophy continues to inspire his work as he remains committed to spreading his love for hip-hop and helping the culture reach even wider audiences across Indonesia and beyond.
